Welcome!

Welcome to Mrs. Hebert’s Classroom!

However you got here, I’m glad you made it and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Purpose of This Blog

This purpose of this website has changed over the years. Its original creation was an assignment for one of my first graduate classes. I loved the process of writing and publishing posts, so I kept at it long after the completion of that class and that program. I don’t post as often as I’d like, but I do still view this page as a critical part of my own professional growth. I’m a firm believer that the first step towards professional and personal improvement is reflection, and this blog is one way that I reflect on my own practices.

When I started this website, I was an English teacher and a masters student. Now I’m an instructional designer and a doctoral candidate. Things have changed, but things have also stayed the same. I am still learning, and I invite you to learn with me.

As for why anyone else would want to read this blog, I hope that anyone who has found this page finds something useful here, whether it’s an educational technology tool, a little motivation to try something new, or validation that I experienced the same struggles that you have experienced.

About Me

Check out the About Me page to learn a bit about my background.

This website also houses my master’s capstone project and is connected to my doctoral dossier.

  1. Hi Mrs. Hebert, I’m one of your old students. I just wanted to say thank you so much for being the best teacher I’ve ever had. I was at the lowest point in my life in the 8th grade. Now, I’m doing better than ever! I finally learned that it does get better.

    • Lauren!! I don’t know how I didn’t see this comment until today. I am SO HAPPY you are happy. I will cherish the memory of you sitting on the floor by my desk to tell me about your day – the good, the bad, and the ugly. I expect an invitation when you graduate!

  2. I don’t know how I ended up here but it’s funny how life works! I don’t know if you remember me but I had you for English in middle school 3-4 years ago. You are by far my favorite teacher I’ve had! I was going through a borderline identity crisis but your great attitude and vibrant class allowed be to get out of my shell and make lots of friends and memories I’ll hold dear for a long time! (Even if I ended up transferring to an early college program and losing contact with most of those friends) I saw that you’ve gone on to do even greater things and I’m proud that you were able to continue your education so far, but I hope you never forget about your favorite 7th period class ever!!!
